Courtesy Call on Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs SHIMADA by Representatives of the World Cosplay Summit 2026

On July 29, Mr. SHIMADA Tomoaki, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from the representatives of participating countries and regions for the “World Cosplay Summit 2026” (to be held from July 31 to August 2, in Nagoya, Japan), specifically Ecuador, Hong Kong, and Trinidad and Tobago.

  1. At the beginning of the meeting, Parliamentary Vice-Minister SHIMADA wished the participants the best of luck in the “World Cosplay Summit 2026,” in which 41 countries and regions will be competing. He also expressed his hope that they would take advantage of their visit to Japan to experience not only pop culture but also the various charms of Japan.
  2. The representatives from each country and region expressed that it was a great honor for them to visit Japan and participate in the Summit. In a friendly atmosphere, they had a pleasant conversation with Parliamentary Vice-Minister SHIMADA on topics such as how they became interested in Japanese anime and cosplay as well as Japan’s various attractions.
