On July 29, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a farewell courtesy call by H.E. Ms. Julia LONGBOTTOM, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Japan.
- State Minister KUNIMITSU expressed her appreciation for Ambassador Longbottom’s contributions, stating that, thanks to her dedicated efforts as the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Japan over more than five years, bilateral relations between Japan and the UK have made significant progress, and that the relationship between the two countries, now “Enhanced Global Strategic Partners,” is closer and stronger than ever before.
- In response, Ambassador Longbottom stated that it had been an honor to contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two countries through numerous high-level exchanges and initiatives during her tenure, adding that she intends to continue supporting the strengthening of Japan-UK relations in various ways even after her departure.
- The two sides also exchanged views on security, economy and economic security, people-to-people exchanges, and other issues.
