Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister Motegi by a Delegation Led by López, President of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico

On July 1, commencing at 2:15 p.m. for 30 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by a delegation led by H.E. Dip Kenia LÓPEZ RABADÁN, President of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies of the United Mexican States, who is currently visiting Japan by the invitation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
- At the outset, Minister MOTEGI welcomed the visit to Japan by President of the Chamber of Deputies López and other members of the Mexican Federal Chamber of Deputies and stated that Japan and Mexico are friends with a historical relationship extending over 400 years and are strategic global partners.
- In response, President of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies López stated that Mexico and Japan are partners bound by a strong relationship of trust, and expressed her commitment to dedicating her efforts to parliamentary diplomacy in her capacity as President of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies in order to promote cooperation in various fields with Japan, which is a country of great importance to Mexico.
- Minister MOTEGI expressed his expectation of working with Mexico that shares values and principles such as democracy and the rule of law, as the international community faces various challenges. Both sides also confirmed the importance of cooperation in science and technology, including innovation, as well as cooperation within the CPTPP.
- Minister MOTEGI asked for cooperation in creating a favorable environment for Japanese companies in Mexico, and President of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies López responded that the presence of Japanese companies in Mexico is important for Mexico as well, and expressed her commitment to working toward strengthening economic relations between the two countries.
