Foreign Minister MOTEGI’s Meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Chau of Viet Nam

On June 10, commencing at 2:10 p.m. for 30 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Le Tien Chau, Deputy Prime Minister of Viet Nam.
- At the outset, Minister MOTEGI stated that Japan and Viet Nam would work together to further strengthen their “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” and to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” (FOIP). In response, Deputy Prime Minister Chau welcomed the success of recent visit to Viet Nam by Ms. TAKAICHI, Prime Minister of Japan, and expressed his intention to follow up its outcomes.
- The two sides concurred on strengthening cooperation in various fields, including the economy, economic security including rare earth elements, and people-to-people exchanges. In this context, Minister MOTEGI once again called on Viet Nam to take measures against websites offering pirated manga.
- The two sides confirmed coordination on key issues in the Indo-Pacific region, including the situations in the East and South China Seas, North Korea, including the nuclear and missile issues as well as the abductions issue, the situation in Myanmar.
