Exchange of views between Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI and Mr. ABUBAKR, Director of the Office of the Deputy Minister of Defense of Libya

On May 21, commencing at 1:00 p.m., for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. ONISHI Yohei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by ABUBAKR Raffa, Director of the Office of the Deputy Minister of Defense of f Libya.

  1. At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI mentioned that Japan recognizes Libya as an important partner, being an energy supplier holding Africa’s largest proven crude oil reserves. He expressed his hope that this visit to Japan will serve as an opportunity to deepen cooperation with Libya across a wide range of fields.
  2. In response, Mr. Abubakr explained that Libya is making steady progress towards unity and stability and stated his desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Japan as partners, which possesses advanced expertise in the fields of coast guard and disaster response.
  3. Both sides confirmed that, with next year marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, they will further deepen cooperation between the two countries.
