Luncheon Hosted by State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU with Mr. Alexander DE CROO, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme

On April 21, commencing at 12:00 p.m. for approximately 100 minutes, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, hosted a luncheon with Mr. Alexander DE CROO, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), who is visiting Japan.
- At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU welcomed Administrator DE CROO’s first visit to Japan as UNDP Administrator, and stated that Japan and UNDP have been co-organizers of TICAD since its early days and have long been strategic partners promoting human security.
- Both sides, while referring to cooperation including in the Middle East, Ukraine, and Africa, concurred to further deepen cooperation in including human security, which they have advanced to date, and to further strengthen Japan–UNDP collaboration in fields such as digital and AI, climate change, healthcare as well as promoting public-private partnerships.
- They also exchanged views on UNDP’s outreach in Japan and on enhancement of recruitment and promotion of Japanese staff at UNDP.
