On April 20, commencing at 5:00 p.m. for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a farewell courtesy call by H.E. Ms. Faalavaau Perina Jacqueline Sila-Tualaulelei, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Independent State of Samoa to Japan.

At the outset, State Minister HORII appreciated Ambassador Sila’s active engagement and contribution to bilateral relations during her 11-year tenure in Japan, stating that the “kizuna” between Japan and Samoa had deepened further during the ambassador’s tenure, as evidenced by high-level exchanges such as visits by prime ministers and a foreign minister, including during the Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM).
  2. In response, Ambassador Sila stated that she was pleased to have been able to work on further strengthening bilateral relations, including promoting people-to-people exchanges. She mentioned that she would continue to work hard for deepening Japan-Samoa relations in various capacities even after her departure.
