- The Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Initiative (NPDI), a cross-regional group of non-nuclear-weapon States, released a Joint Statement ahead of the 11th Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) on April 13, 2026.
- This joint statement is intended to increase momentum towards the 11th NPT Review Conference and calls upon all NPT States parties to engage in dialogue and cooperation with a forward-looking approach, even amid a challenging international security environment, in order to maintain and strengthen the Treaty.
- Japan intends to continue to play an active role at the NPT Review Conference starting from the end of April in identifying areas of common ground between nuclear-weapon States and non-nuclear-weapon States.
