On April 10, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ONISHI Yohei received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Jean Antoine DIOUF, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Senegal to Japan. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows:

  1. Vice-Minister ONISHI extended his congratulations on 66th Senegal’s Independence Day celebrated on April 4. In addition, emphasizing that Senegal and Japan are “strategically important partners” that share fundamental values such as democracy and rule of law, Vice-Minister ONISHI shared his view that momentum towards a further strengthened bilateral relations is growing, particularly in light of the recent high-level visits since last year.
  2. In response, Ambassador DIOUF expressed his gratitude for Japan’s cooperation and support in various fields.
  3. Both sides confirmed their commitment to develop further the cooperative relationship between the two countries.
