Courtesy call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII by U.S. Senator Jim Banks

On April 10, commencing at 05:30 p.m., for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by Senator Jim Banks, United States, who is visiting Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- State Minister HORII welcomed the Senator Banks’s visit to Japan and stated the importance of multi-layered people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, including between congressional and diet members, which have supported the ever-stronger Japan-U.S. Alliance. State Minister HORII also stated that he would like to further strengthen such relationship.
- State Minister HORII also stated he would like to advance high-quality Japan-U.S. cooperation in concrete terms across a wide range of areas, including the economy, economic security, and security based on the outcomes of Prime Minister TAKAICHI's visit to the United States. State Minister HORII conveyed appreciation to Senator Banks in particular for his role to have sponsored the resolution regarding the Japan-U.S. Alliance at the end of last year.
- They exchanged their views on regional situations. State Minister HORII asked for understanding and cooperation for the immediate resolution of the abductions issue by North Korea and gained Senator Banks’s support.
