Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII by U.S. Senators

On April 1, commencing at 2:00 p.m., for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by the delegation led by Senator Jeanne Shaheen, United States, who are visiting Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- At the outset, State Minister HORII welcomed the delegation’s visit to Japan and expressed his gratitude for their robust support for the Japan-U.S. Alliance.
- State Minister HORII conveyed appreciation to Senator Shaheen in particular for her role to have secured the adoption of the resolution regarding Japan in the U.S. Senate upon Prime Minister Takaichi’s visit to the U.S. last month, as well as to have sponsored the resolution regarding the Japan-U.S. Alliance at the end of last year.
- State Minister HORII also stated his intention that the Government of Japan place importance on parliamentary exchanges between Japan and the U.S, and further strengthen the Japan-U.S. Alliance, cooperating with members of the U.S. Congress.
- The both sides exchanged their views on further strengthening of the Japan-U.S. Alliance and deepening Japan-U.S. economic cooperation.
