Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU and H.E. Ms. LAHBIB, Commissioner for Equality; Preparedness and Crisis Management, European Commission

On April 1, commencing at 4:45 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with H.E. Ms. Hadja LAHBIB, Commissioner for Equality; Preparedness and Crisis, European Commission. The overview of the meeting is as follows:

  1. State Minister KUNIMITSU stated that Japan and the EU are important strategic partners in maintaining and strengthening a free and open international order based on the rule of law and in addressing global challenges together. She also expressed her willingness to work closely together with the EU for humanitarian and development assistance and disaster prevention.
  2. In response, Commissioner LAHBIB expressed her willingness, amid the proliferation of conflicts and increasing global uncertainty, to further deepen cooperation with Japan as a long-standing and stable partner that shares the importance of values and the rule of law.
  3. Both sides exchanged views on their respective initiatives on humanitarian and development assistance and disaster prevention as well as regional situations and concurred to continue to work closely together.
