Courtesy Call on Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ERI by Mr. Barroca, Deputy Minister for Energy, Ministry of Environment and Energy of the Portuguese Republic

On March 26, commencing at 10:50 a.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Ms. ERI Arfiya, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from Mr. Jean Barroca, Deputy Minister for Energy, Ministry of Environment and Energy of the Portuguese Republic, who was visiting Japan under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Strategic Exchange on Practical Level Invitation Program. The overview is as follows:
- Parliamentary Vice-Minister ERI welcomed Deputy Minister Barroca's visit to Japan and expressed her hope that Japan and Portugal, which became "Strategic Partners" during the visit of H.E. Mr. Luis Montenegro, Portuguese Prime Minister to Japan last September, would further promote cooperation in various areas, including energy.
- In response, Deputy Minister Barroca expressed his gratitude for the invitation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to visit Japan, stating that the visit had been meaningful and the exchange of views with Japanese energy-related organizations and visits to Japanese companies investing in Portugal's energy sector would contribute to strengthening cooperation in the energy field of the two countries.
- Both sides confirmed that they will work together even more closely in a wide range of fields, including economy and economic security.
