Courtsey Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII by Mr. Toussaint, Director-General for Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Haiti

On March 23, commencing at 5:30 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foregin Affairs of Japan received a courtesy call from Christian Toussaint, Director-Genaral for Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Haiti, who was visiting Japan. The summary is as follows:
- At the outset, State Minister HORII welcomed Director-General Toussaint’s visit to Japan. He referred to the long-standing friendship between the two countries, which marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year. He expressed his pleasure that bilateral relations have been further strengthened through the Japan-Caribbean Exchange Year 2024 and last year’s Osaka-Kansai Expo.
- In response, Director-General Toussaint expressed that he was delighted to visit Japan in this milestone year marking the 70th anniversary. He also conveyed his gratitude for Japan’s support.
- State Minister HORII stated that support from the international community, including Japan, is meaningful only when accompanied by Haiti’s own efforts. He expressed his expectation that, under the leadership of the Prime Minister of Haiti, preparations for the upcoming elections will proceed smoothly.
- They also exchanged views on regional situations, such as their policies toward North Korea, including on the nuclear and missile issues as well as the abductions issue, and cooperation in the international arena, confirming their continued close collaboration.
