The 2nd Council Meeting of the Public-Private Platform of Latin American and the Caribbean Infrastructure Development Alliance (PLACIDA) FY2025 Activity Report and Future Policy Directions

March 19, 2026

Last July, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) is in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), launched the “Public-Private Platform of Latin American and the Caribbean Infrastructure Development Alliance (PLACIDA)” to support Japanese companies’ expansion into Latin America and the Caribbean.

To facilitate the overseas expansion of infrastructure into Latin America and the Caribbean, PLACIDA shared information on local challenges and situations this fiscal year. Additionally, we dispatched public-private missions to exchange views with local government officials and private companies, host promotional events, and realize on-site visits. These activities were designed to foster momentum for infrastructure expansion in the region and enhance Japan’s presence there.
