Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. HORII and Hon. Ralph REGENVANU, Minister for Climate Change Adaptation, Meteorology and Geo-Hazards, Energy, Environment and National Disaster Management of the Republic of Vanuatu

On March 13, commencing at 11:30 a.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with the Hon. Ralph REGENVANU, Minister for Climate Change Adaptation, Meteorology and Geo-Hazards, Energy, Environment and National Disaster Management of the Republic of Vanuatu, who is visiting Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- At the outset, State Minister HORII mentioned that Japan and Vanuatu are important partners, connected with the Pacific Ocean and united by shared values and principles such as freedom and democracy. State Minister HORII also stated that this year marks 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vanuatu, and Japan will work with Vanuatu to address common challenges including climate change and natural disasters. Minister REGENVANU expressed his appreciation for Japan’s cooperation, including Japan’s support for recovery from the earthquake that struck in Vanuatu in December 2024.
- Both sides affirmed their intention to further strengthen cooperation both bilaterally and in international fora.
