Attendance of State Minister for Foreign Affairs HRII, at the Ceremony for the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS 16th/17th Logistics and Aviation Staff Officers)
On March 11, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the ceremony for two members of the Japan's international peace cooperation contingent who had been dispatched to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) as 16th headquarters staff (Major KITA Kazuma and Major NIIYAMA Eisuke), and for two members who will be dispatched as 17th headquarters staff there (Major AUMI Ayaka and Major NAKAMURA Koki).
State Minister HORII expressed his gratitude and respect to the two individuals of 16th for their hard work, which embodied Japan's friendship and assistance to South Sudan. To the two individuals of 17th, he expressed his expectations for their contribution to nation-building in South Sudan and, by extension, to peace and stability in East Africa, and wished them a successful completion of their mission.

Japan has been dispatching the staff officers to the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS) since November 2011. Currently, four individuals are working as information analysis, logistics, engineering, and aviation operations staff officers at the UNMISS Headquarters in Juba, the capital of South Sudan.
