State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU’s attendance at the reception on the occasion of the 69th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Ghana

On March 6, on behalf of the Government of Japan, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the reception on the occasion of the 69th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Ghana, hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Ghana.

  1. At the outset, Her Excellency Mrs. Genevieve Edna APALOO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana to Japan, delivered remarks.
  2. This was followed by an address from State Minister KUNIMITSU, who expressed her heartfelt respect and congratulations on the Independence Day of the Republic of Ghana, and stated that Japan-Ghana relations has remarkably strengthened in the recent years, including through the occasion of TICAD 9 held in Yokohama last August. Furthermore, touching upon the visit to Ghana by the Public-Private Joint Mission for Promoting Trade and Investment in Africa which she led in this January, she hoped that the mission would contribute to creating further business opportunities within Ghana.
  3. To conclude, State Minister KUNIMITSU stated that the year of 2027, which marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Ghana, the 100th anniversary of Dr. NOGUCHI Hideyo's stay in Ghana, and the 50th anniversary of the dispatch of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers to Ghana, would be a truly rare and historic year, presenting an extraordinary opportunity to further advance Japan-Ghana relations.
