Visit of Ambassador for Mekong Cooperation HAYASHI to Thailand, Cambodia, and the Philippines

- The Government of Japan has been making various efforts toward de-escalation of the situation between Cambodia and Thailand, including diplomatic engagements, humanitarian assistance, and the decision to provide the equipment to the ASEAN Observer Team through OSA, in order to encourage steady implementation of the ceasefire agreement between the two countries.
- As a part of such efforts, from February 23 to 27, Mr. HAYASHI Teiji, Ambassador for Mekong Cooperation, is scheduled to visit Thailand, Cambodia, and the Philippines, the ASEAN Chair for 2026, and will hold meetings with government officials and exchange views on the border situations between Cambodia and Thailand.
