State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII’s Visit to New Zealand
From February 10 to February 13, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, visited Wellington and Auckland, New Zealand. The overview of the visit is as follows:
1. Meetings with officials of the Government of New Zealand
(1) Courtesy Call on Rt. Hon. Winston Peters, Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand
On 11, State Minister HORII paid a courtesy call on Rt. Hon. Winston Peters, Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, and exchanged views on regional affairs, including the Pacific Island Countries, and on strengthening future cooperation between two countries.
(2) Dinner Meeting with Hon. Todd McClay, Minister for Trade and Investment, and Associate Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand
On 11, State Minister HORII attended a dinner hosted by Hon. Todd McClay, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Forestry, Minister for Trade and Investment, and Associate Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, and exchanged views with participants, including Hon. Simon Watts, Minister of Climate Change, Minister for Energy, Minister of Local Government and Minister of Revenue, on cooperation in the fields of economy and security.
(3) Meeting with Hon. Chris Penk, Associate Minister of Defence of New Zealand
On 11, State Minister HORII met with Hon. Chris Penk, Associate Minister of Defence of New Zealand, and exchanged views on bilateral security and defense cooperation between our two countries.
2. Exchange of opinions with representatives of Japanese companies
On 12, State Minister HORII held discussions with representatives of Japanese companies in Auckland, exchanging opinions on current local situations, as well as business environment in the region.
