The 2nd Japan-NATO Cyber Dialogue

On January 27 (January 27, local time), the 2nd Japan-North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Cyber Dialogue was held in Brussels, Belgium.

  1. This meeting was co-chaired by Mr. YAMAMOTO Takeomi, Director, National Security Policy Division, Foreign Policy Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) and Mr. Jean Charles ELLERMANN-KINGOMBE, Assistant Secretary General for Cyber and Digital Transformation, NATO. From the Japanese side, officials from MOFA, National Cybersecurity Office (NCO), and Ministry of Defense (MOD) attended the dialogue.
  2. In this dialogue, following the enactment of Japan’s Cyber Response Capability Strengthening Act and Necessary Arrangement of Relevant Acts last year, as well as the adoption of a new Cybersecurity Strategy, the two sides exchanged views on broad topics, such as cybersecurity strategy and policy of Japan and the NATO, and future bilateral cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.
  3. Both sides confirmed that they will continue to closely work together in the cyber defense field including through the Japan-NATO Cyber Dialogue.
