Summary of the first meeting under “Strategic Partnership Framework between Japan and MERCOSUR”

On January 27 (same day local time), Japan and Mercosur held the first meeting under "Strategic Partnership Framework between Japan and MERCOSUR" in Asunción, the Republic of Paraguay (Current Mercosur Presidency).
- The meeting was attended by Mr. ISHIZE Motoyuki, Director-General of the Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs along with representatives from relevant ministries. From the Mercosur side, Ambassador Wilma Patricia FRUTOS RUÍZ, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Paraguay along with representatives from other Mercosur’s countries attended the meeting.
- At this meeting, both sides had a discussion in a wide range of fields including trade and economy to deepen economic relations and issued a Summary of Discussions. Both sides have determined to continue discussions in the future.
