Japan-EU Foreign Ministers’ Telephone Meeting

On January 19, commencing at 4:30 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a telephone meeting, at the request of the EU side, with H.E. Ms. Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- High Representative Kallas explained the current situation, including developments in the Middle East and in Greenland. In response, Minister MOTEGI explained Japan’s position and, with respect to Greenland, stated that the stability of relations between the United States and Europe is important.
- They also exchanged views on international situations including the Indo-Pacific and confirmed that Japan and the EU will continue to work closely together.
