State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII’s Visit to the United States of America (State of Hawaii, Washington D.C.)
Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, visited the State of Hawaii from January 6 to January 7 and Washington D.C. (January 16), the United States of America. The overview of the visit is as follows:
1. Meeting with Mr. Josh Green, Governor of the State of Hawaii
On January 6, State Minister HORII met with Mr. Josh Green, Governor of State of Hawaii of the United States of America, and discussed ways to strengthen Japan-Hawaii relations, including tourism, people-to-people exchange, and economic ties, together with Mr. MATSUYAMA Masaji, Chairperson of the Japan-Hawaii Legislators Friendship Association Association and Member of the House of Councillors of Japan and other members of the Association.
2. Meeting with Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command
On January 7, State Minister HORII met with Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and exchanged views on regional affairs including the Indo-Pacific region and endeavors to enhance the Japan-U.S. alliance.
3. Visit to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency
On January 7, State Minister Horii visited DPAA (Defense POW/MIA/Accounting Agency). He received a briefing about the Agency's activities and exchanged views on Japan-U.S. cooperation in the collection of remains.
4. Meeting with Think Tank Representatives and Others
With Mr. Keneth Weinstein, Japan Chair at the Hudson Institute
On January 16, State Minister Horii visited Washington D.C. and exchanged views on Japan-U.S. relations as well as regional and international affairs with representatives from the Hudson Institute, the Asia Group and the Council on Foreign Relations respectively.
5. Roundtable hosted by U.S. Chamber of Commerce (USCC) and U.S.-Japan Business Council (USJBC) with U.S. corporate representatives
On January 16, State Minister Horii held an exchange of views with U.S. corporate and other representatives at Roundtable upon the invitation by the USCC and the USJBC.
6. Meeting with Japanese Companies in Washington D.C.
On January 16, State Minister Horii held an exchange of views with representatives of Japanese companies operating in the United States and others, discussing U.S. economy, Japan-U.S. investment and economic relations.
