Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister MOTEGI by the Japan Australia Business Co-operation Committee

On December 23, commencing at 1:00 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from the Japan Australia Business Co-operation Committee (JABCC), chaired by Mr. HIROSE Michiaki, Senior Corporate Advisor, Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd..
The overview of the courtesy call is as follows:
- At the outset, Mr. HIROSE reported on the outcomes of the 62nd Australia-Japan Annual Joint Business Conference held in Perth, Australia in October 2025, as well as their future activities.
- Foreign Minister MOTEGI conveyed his congratulations on the successful convening of the Conference and expressed gratitude for the JABCC's long standing contributions to strengthening bilateral economic relations with Australia, which is working together to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)” and to promote economic security.
- While noting that next year marks the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Co-operation between Japan-Australia, Foreign Minister MOTEGI expressed his anticipation that the Committee would keep contributing to further development of Japan-Australia economic relations.
