Japan-Tajikistan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

On December 19, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a Foreign Ministers’ meeting with H.E. Mr. Sirojiddin MUHRIDDIN, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, who is visiting Japan to attend the Summit of "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue(CA+JAD). The overview of the meeting is as follows:

On this occasion, the “Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026-2028” and Investment Treaty were signed.

  1. At the outset, Minister MOTEGI welcomed Foreign Minister MUHRIDDIN’s visit to Japan and also welcomed that the First Summit of CA+JAD will be held on December 20 with the participation of H.E. Mr. Emomali RAHMON, President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
  2. Minister MOTEGI stated that he would like to closely work together to deepen relations with Tajikistan in including cooperation on the field of critical mineral as partners in maintaining and strengthening a free and open international order based on the rule of law. Foreign Minister MUHRIDDIN conveyed his gratitude for the various assistance Japan has provided so far.
  3. The two ministers also exchanged views on regional developments and economic security, as well as cooperation in international arena, and confirmed that they will continue to work closely together in various fields.
