Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU by H.E. Mr. JERÓNIMO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Portuguese Republic to Japan

On December 15, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Gilberto JERÓNIMO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Portuguese Republic to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows;
- At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU stated that Japan and Portugal are friendly nations with a history of exchange spanning over 480 years, and that she was pleased that the visit of H.E. Mr. Luis Montenegro, Prime Minister of the Portuguese Republic, to Japan in September this year had led to the strengthening of bilateral relations.
- Ambassador JERÓNIMO extended his congratulations on State Minister KUNIMITSU’s appointment and stated that on the occasion of the Prime Minister Luis Montenegro's visit to Japan this year, the relationship between the two countries had become a "strategic partnership," and expressed his hopes for further development of bilateral relations.
- Both sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including cooperation in areas such as economy, as well as in the international arena, and concurred to continue to work closely together as strategic partners.
