Exchanging Opinions among Foreigh Minister MOTEGI, Chairs OHASHI and KARUBE

On December 10th, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from Mr. OHASHI Tetsuji, Chair of Keidanren's Committee on Africa and Special Advisor to Komatsu, and Mr. KARUBE Jun, Chair of Keidanren's Committee on Africa, and Senior Executive Advisor to Toyota Tsusho Corporation. The overview is as follows:

  1. At the outset, Chairs OHASHI and KARUBE presented Minister MOTEGI with a proposal entitled ‘Maintaining and Strengthening Our Commitment to Africa Following TICAD 9’, which sets out Japan's strategic priorities for Africa based on the outcomes of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), which was held in August this year.
  2. Minister MOTEGI expressed his gratitude to the chairs for acknowledging the value of specific requests from business stakeholders. Minister MOTEGI stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs aims to further support Japanese companies' investment in Africa and will continue to collaborate with Keidanren.
