Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister MOTEGI by H.E. Dr. Bahous, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of UN Women

On December 9, commencing at 3:30 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from H.E. Dr. Sima Bahous, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of UN Women, who is visiting Japan at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The overview is as follows:
- Minister MOTEGI welcomed Executive Director Bahous ‘s visit to Japan and expressed respect for UN Women’s leadership in the international community in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. He also expressed gratitude for her contribution to the Next Generation Forum for Gender Equality. In response, Executive Director Bahous expressed the importance of the partnership with Japan and her gratitude for Japan’s support to UN Women.
- Minister MOTEGI and Executive Director Bahous concurred to continue strengthening the cooperation between Japan and UN Women and to further promote women’s empowerment.
