Japan-EU Senior Officials Virtual Dialogue

On December 5, commencing at 5:00 p.m. for approximately 60 minutes, Mr. FUNAKOSHI Takehiro, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held the Japan-EU Senior Officials Virtual Dialogue with Her Excellency Ms. Belén MARTÍNEZ CARBONELL. The overview is as follows;
- The two sides had a broad exchange of views on the situation in Ukraine and the Indo-Pacific under the current international environment and affirmed that Japan and the European Union would continue working closely together.
- The two sides confirmed the importance of further enhancing their cooperation including in the areas of security and economic security to maintain and strengthen a free and open international order based on the rule of law and concurred on continuing close communication through various levels.
- The two sides also concurred on further strengthening cooperation among like-minded countries to strengthen the supply chains of critical minerals, including rare earths.
