On December 3, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the reception to celebrate the Independence Day of Finland held at the Embassy of the Republic of Finland in Tokyo, and delivered her remarks on behalf of the Government of Japan. The overview is as follows;

  1. At the outset, following the opening remarks by H.E. Ms. Tanja Jääskeläinen, Ambassador of Finland to Japan, State Minister KUNIMITSU delivered her remarks.
  2. Referring to the visit of President and Mrs. Stubb to Japan in June, the joint statement issued on that occasion, and the deepening of cooperation in the security and defense fields, State Minister KUNIMITSU stated that cooperation between the two countries has made significant progress across a wide range of fields. She also expressed that she herself hopes to work to further develop Japan-Finland relations.
