Emergency Assistance to the Federated States of Micronesia in Response to the Oil Leak

On November 28, upon the request of the Government of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), the Government of Japan has decided to provide emergency relief goods (oil absorbent mats, oil fences and etc.) through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the FSM in response to the damages caused by the oil leak.
In light of the humanitarian perspective and the close relations between Japan and the FSM, Japan has decided to provide emergency assistance to the FSM to support the people affected by the oil leak.

In the FSM, oil leaking was found from the sunken ship in the State of Chuuk from around September 11, affecting the surrounding environment.
