Lifting of Import Restriction Measures on Japanese Food Products by Taiwan
November 21, 2025
- On November 21, Taiwanese authorities announced the lifting of all the import restriction measures on Japanese food products, which were introduced after the accident at TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in 2011 and were under review.
- Before this announcement, Japan had called on the Taiwanese side for the early lifting of the measures based on scientific evidence, on various occasions.
- Japan welcomes the Taiwanese side’s decision to lift the measures, which will encourage the reconstruction of the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
