Japan-Spain Vice-Ministerial-level Political Consultation

On November 11, the Japan-Spain Vice-Ministerial-level Political Consultation was held in Tokyo. The overview is as follows:
- Mr. AKAHORI Takeshi, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, represented Japan and Mr. Diego MARTÍNEZ BELÍO, State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain, represented Spain in the meeting. Ambassador of Spain to Japan, Mr. Iñigo de Palacio and officials from both countries also participated in the meeting.
- During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations based on the Japan-Spain Strategic Partnership as well as cooperation in the international arena, including responses to regional affairs.
- The two sides also welcomed progress in defense and security cooperation between Japan and Spain, including this year’s port calls by the Spanish frigate Mendez Nunez to Yokosuka and Kure, and the agreement in principle on the Agreement concerning the Transfer of Defense Equipment and Technology.
