State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII 's Attendance at the 47th Annual Joint Meeting of the Japan-U.S. Southeast Association and the Southeast U.S./Japan Association
On October 29, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the opening ceremony of the 47th Annual Joint Meeting of the Japan-U.S. Southeast Association and the Southeast U.S./Japan Association in Tokyo, and delivered welcome remarks.
In his remarks, State Minister HORII touched on the contribution made by Japanese companies to local communities through job creation and investment in the Southeastern United States. He stated that the Government of Japan would provide support to promote a better understanding of Japanese companies’ activities at the grassroots level. Moreover, he encouraged U.S. companies to invest in Japan, and closed his speech by expressing his wishes for the success of this Joint Meeting and the further deepening of the “kizuna (bond)” between Japan and the U.S.

The Japan-U.S. Southeast Association was established in 1975 to promote mutual exchange between Japan and the Southeastern United States ―Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Joint Meetings are convened annually, alternating between Japan and the United States. The 47th Joint Meeting was held in Tokyo from October 28 to 29.
