The 25th Japan-Spain Forum

On October 23, the 25th Japan-Spain Forum was held at the Pedralbes Palace in Barcelona, Kingdom of Spain. The overview of the symposium is as follows:
- At the opening ceremony, a video message from Mr. AKAHORI Takeshi, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, was screened as the Government of Japan’s remarks. From the Government of Spain, Mr. Luis FONSECA, Director-General for North America, Eastern Europe, Asia and the Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation, participated in the ceremony and delivered remarks.
- Afterwards, three sessions were held under the theme of “Shared Vision, Common Challenges: Strengthening the Spain-Japan Alliance”. The topics of each session are as follows: “Redefining Alliances: The New Global Landscape and Its Economic Impact;” “Natural Disaster Management: Shared Challenges, Joint Solutions;” and “From Farm to Table: Innovation and Food Security in Spain and Japan.” In each session, discussions took place among experts from both countries, including on the possibilities of cooperation between the two countries.
- At the closing ceremony, the co-chairs of the Forum, Mr. SATO Yoshio, Senior Corporate Advisor to Sumitomo Life Insurance Company, and Ms. Ángeles DELGADO, President of the Spain Japan Council Foundation and President of Spain and Portugal for Fujitsu, concluded that they hope this year’s Forum will contribute to the further strengthening of the bilateral relations between Japan and Spain.
