Japan-Canada Symposium on Peace and Security Cooperation

On October 14 and 15, the 18th Japan-Canada Security Symposium was held at the National Defense Academy in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, with participation from government officials and experts from both Japan and Canada.

At this symposium, active exchanges of views took place on Japan-Canada security cooperation, regional situations, economic security, and other topics.

Following the November 1997 Japan-Canada Summit, where both countries agreed to promote cooperation in the fields of peace and security, the first symposium was held in 1998. It is a Track 1.5 framework involving government officials and experts from both countries, held alternately in Japan and Canada.
