Number of Japanese Staff Members in United Nations-related Agencies (End of 2024)

Based on a Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) survey, as of the end of 2024, there were 979 Japanese staff members working in United Nations-related Agencies (a total of 44 Agencies). This figure includes professional staff and above, with 618 women representing 63.1% of the total. Among them, 94 were senior staff members (D1 and above).
MOFA will continue its efforts to increase the number of Japanese staff members and promote their advancement. These efforts include utilizing the Junior Professional Officer (JPO) program to send young Japanese professionals to international organizations and holding job seminars for Japanese professionals worldwide.
