On October 2, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the official dinner of the 62nd Japan-US Business Conference and delivered remarks as a guest speaker as follows:

  1. It is essential for Japan to coordinate with its ally and like-minded partners amid a rapidly changing international environment, and strengthening the Japan-U.S. Alliance—the cornerstone of such initiatives—remains top priority for Japan’s diplomacy.
  2. In order to elevate the Japan-U.S. Alliance to new heights, it is imperative to build a win-win economic relationship between Japan and the U.S., and the role of the private sectors of both countries is indispensable for achieving such a goal. The Government of Japan extends its respect and appreciation to business persons of both countries, and will continue to support enhancing Japan-U.S. relations from the grassroots level, such as people-to-people exchanges and community engagement, which go beyond economic activities and are exactly what Japanese companies are good at.
  3. Under a rules-based, free and fair international economic order, robust Japan-U.S. economic relations serve as the foundation not only for the Japan-U.S. Alliance, but also for the growth and vitality of the Indo-Pacific region and the world. The Government of Japan will continue to do its part, as both countries fulfill their responsible roles.

Furthermore, Mr. SAWADA Jun, Chair of the Japan-U.S. Business Council, and Mr. David Goeckeler, Chair of the U.S.-Japan Business Council, delivered remarks expressing their expectation for closer cooperation between the private sectors of both countries and for the further development of Japan -U.S. relations.
