Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ERI’s attendance at the welcome Reception for the 65th Convention of Nikkei and Japanese Abroad

On September 17, Ms. ERI Arfiya, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the welcome Reception for the 65th Convention of Nikkei and Japanese Abroad, held in the presence of Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince and Crown Princess Akishino, and delivered a welcome address. Approximately 150 overseas Japanese and Japanese descendants (Nikkei) from 17 countries participated in the Convention. The overview is as follows:
- In her address, Parliamentary Vice-Minister ERI stated that Nikkei have been upholding Japan’s roots, spirit, and traditional culture across generations through various creative efforts. Moreover, she stated that she is deeply impressed that Nikkei are playing active roles as important members of their respective societies, stated that she feels a strong pride and connection with them, and expressed her respect for the efforts and achievements of Nikkei to date.
- Following her address, Parliamentary Vice-Minister ERI had conversations with Nikkei of various generations from different countries, deepening exchanges on strengthening the bonds between Japan and Nikkei communities, as well as the dreams held by the younger generation.
