Announcement of Joint Statement by Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Independent State of Papua New Guinea on the Occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Diplomatic Relations

On September 16, Japan and the Independent State of Papua New Guinea celebrate today the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, which began on September 16, 1975.
- Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Papua New Guinea, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, together with Hon. Justin W. TKATCHENKO, CBE, BEM, OL, MP, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, announced a Joint Statement by the Ministers for Foreign Affairs.
- In the joint statement, both ministers reaffirmed the friendship that has grown between the two countries over the past 50 years and renewed their determination to further strengthen cooperation in the years ahead.
