Parliamentary Vice-Minister MATSUMOTO’s attendance at the Japan Launch Event for the Human Development Report 2025

On September 9, a Japan launch event for the Human Development Report 2025, titled "A matter of choice: People and possibilities in the age of AI" (co-hosted by the United Nations Development Programme, United Nations University, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), was held at the United Nations University. Mr. MATSUMOTO Hisashi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the event. The outline is as follows:
- Approximately 280 people participated in the event in person or online, including experts, students and representatives from NGO/NPO, international organizations and embassies in Tokyo.
- Touching upon Japan's initiatives regarding AI, including the promotion of the "Hiroshima AI Process," Parliamentary Vice-Minister MATSUMOTO stated that Japan will promote the development and utilization of AI while taking into consideration the aspects of the rule of law and human security, thus contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- During the panel discussion, participants examined various perspectives on the choices needed to achieve sustainable and inclusive human development in light of the impact of AI advancements on human development.
