Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs FUJII by the Delegation of Governors of U.S. Midwest States

On September 8, commencing at 1:45 p.m., for approximately 45 minutes, Mr. FUJII Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from Governor Jim Pillen of Nebraska and Lieutenant Governor David Toland of Kansas, the United States of America who was visiting Japan to attend the 55th Annual Joint Meeting of the Japan-Midwest U.S. Association. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.

  1. State Minister FUJII welcomed the holding of the Joint Meeting of the Japan-Midwest U.S. Association in Tokyo, and stated that Japanese companies play a key role that underpins local economic development and employment in each U.S. Midwestern state, and that he hoped to strengthen ties between Japan and the Midwest.
  2. In response, each state governor and lieutenant governor expressed their gratitude for the activities of Japanese companies and explained the current state of sustainable energy, agricultural production and other topics of each state. They referred to the importance and strengthening of trade and investment between Japan and the United States. They expressed also their desire to continue their efforts to further strengthen the Japan-U.S. economic relationship.
