Video Message from Foreign Minister IWAYA for the “OSAKA JAPAN SDGs Forum,” an SDGs symposium held at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan

On September 5, the "OSAKA JAPAN SDGs Forum," an SDGs symposium was held at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan and Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan sent a video message to this forum. The overview of the message is as follows:
- At the beginning of the message, Minister IWAYA stated that the theme of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, "life," is the most important and should be respected, and that the concept of human security promoted by the Government of Japan is exactly what drives the SDGs.
- Minister IWAYA also emphasized the importance of the roles of various stakeholders, particularly local governments, such as Osaka Prefucure, in achieving the SDGs, and expressed his expectation that this forum will be a valuable opportunity to share advanced initiatives from both domestic and international sources and to deepen discussions on "SDGs + beyond" after 2030.
- Furthermore, Minister IWAYA stated that Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan is a platform for intellectual exchange and sharing the knowledge that forms the basis of the SDGs with the international community. Minister IWAYA also expressed his confidence that the discussions at this forum and the concrete initiatives that emerge from here will greatly contribute to the promotion of the SDGs in Japan and ultimately to the achievement of the SDGs throughout the world.
