President Petro of the Republic of Colombia visits to the Osaka-Kansai Expo

On September 5, Mr. MATSUMOTO Hisashi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, received His Excellency Mr. Gustavo Francisco PETRO URREGO, President of the Republic of Colombia, who visited the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The overview is as follows:

  1. Parliamentary Vice-Minister MATSUMOTO welcomed President Petro and Colombian delegation at the Japan Pavilion, delivering welcome address on behalf of the Japanese Government. In his speech, Parliamentary Vice-Minister MATSUMOTO noted that Colombia is the only Latin American country to have constructed its own pavilion and he expressed his hope that the Expo would further showcase Colombia's appeal. He also stated his hope that the visit of the President and his delegation to the Japan Pavilion would deepen their understanding of Japan and lead to a further strengthening of bilateral relations.
  2. President Petro expressed his congratulations on the successful hosting of the Expo and his anticipation for the visit to the Japan Pavilion. He also said that he hopes to further enhance bilateral relations through this visit to Japan.
