Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs FUJII and Ms. Sirið Stenberg, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade of the Faroe Islands

On September 4, commencing at 10:10 a.m. for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. FUJII Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan delivered an opening speech at“Faroe Islands Days”at the Nordic Pavilion in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, and afterwards commencing at 10:20 a.m. for approximately 30 minutes, State Minister FUJII held a meeting with Ms. Sirið Stenberg, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade of the Faroe Islands. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- At the outset, State Minister FUJII welcomed Minister Stenberg's first visit to Japan and the steady progress made in various areas of Japan-Faroese relations based on the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2022.
- In response, Minister Stenberg stated that Faroe Islands attaches great importance to the relationship with Japan and would like to further strengthen Japan-Faroese cooperation in a wide range of areas based on the Memorandum of Cooperation.
- State Minister FUJII and Minister Stenberg exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including economic relations between Japan and the Faroe Islands, people-to-people exchange including sports exchange and tourism, sustainable use of marine living resources, and the Arctic. Both sides concurred on continuing close communication for the further cooperation.
- State Minister FUJII and Minister Stenberg also exchanged views on regional issues such as the situation in Ukraine.
