Visit of Ambassador for Mekong Cooperation SUZUKI Hideo to Malaysia, Cambodia, and Thailand

  1. The Government of Japan believes that a sound relationship between Cambodia and Thailand is extremely important for stability and development in the region, and has been promoting efforts toward de-escalation of the situation, including encouraging steady implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
  2. As a part of such efforts, from August 25 to 29, Mr. SUZUKI Hideo, Ambassador for Mekong Cooperation, is scheduled to visit Malaysia, the ASEAN Chair for 2025, Cambodia, and Thailand, and will hold meetings with government officials and exchange views toward easing of the tension between Cambodia and Thailand.
