The First Japan-Brazil Foreign Affairs and Defense Dialogue

On August 18, the first Japan-Brazil Foreign Affairs and Defense Dialogue was held in Brasília, the capital of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
- At this dialogue, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense KOBAYASHI Kazuo delivered opening remarks. From the Japanese side, Mr. NOGUCHI Yasushi, Director-General of the Latin American and Caribbean Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. TERADA Hiroyuki, Director, Indo-Pacific Cooperation Planning Office, Defense Policy Bureau, Ministry of Defense, and others attended. From the Brazilian side, Ambassador Carlos Márcio Bicalho Cozendey, Secretary of Multilateral Political Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Paulo César Bittencourt Ferreira, Chief of Strategic Affairs of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, Ministry of Defense, and others attended.
- This dialogue was held based on the "Strategic and Global Partnership Action Plan Japan-Brazil (2025-2030)" announced during President Lula's State Visit to Japan in March of this year.
- Both sides exchanged views on a wide range of matters, including the regional situation, cooperation in the international arena, and cooperation in the defense field, and confirmed that they would promote cooperation between the two countries under the "Strategic and Global Partnership."
