Japan-Ukraine Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (Working Dinner)

On August 4, commencing at 6:30 p.m. for approximately 70 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting (working dinner) with H.E. Mr. Andrii SYBIHA, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, who is visiting Japan to attend Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The overview is as follows.
- At the outset, Minister Iwaya once again welcomed Minister Sybiha’s visit to Japan. Minister Iwaya then emphasized that Japan would continue to support Ukraine's efforts to realize a just and lasting peace in Ukraine as soon as posssible.
- In response, Minister Sybiha expressed gratitude for Japan's continued support for Ukraine and touched upon the deep bond between the two countries. He then showed his willingnss to further strengthen cooperation with Japan, as the situation surrounding Ukraine affects that of the Indo-Pacific.
- The two sides had a candid exchange of views on the situation surrounding Ukraine and the latest status of the international efforts. The two Ministers shared the view to continue close coopeation.
