Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs MIYAJI and H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand

On July 24, State Minister for Foreign Affairs MIYAJI Takuma, who is visiting New York, U.S., met with H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- State Minister MIYAJI stated Japan's desire to further deepen its relations with Thailand as a Comprehensive Strategic Partner in the lead-up to the 140th anniversary of Japan-Thailand friendship in 2027, and expressed his desire to cooperate for sustainable economic and social development at a time when the international community faces multifaceted crises. He also expressed condolences for the damage caused by the earthquake that struck in central Myanmar in March, and spoke about Japan's efforts in the field of disaster risk reduction, which constitute one of its most important areas of focus, and about Japan’s international contributions utilizing its experience.
- In response, Minister Maris stated Thailand's desire to further develop bilateral relations and expressed gratitude for Japan's support in the field of disaster risk reduction. Minister Maris also stated that both Japan and Thailand prioritize the SDGs and Japan's expertise including disaster risk reduction is beneficial for sustainable economic and social development, and expressed his desire to continue to cooperate and collaborate with Japan.
